Step 1

Place the VIM on a clean surface, clear of debris.

Connect all straps, but do not allow sides of VIM to be pulled upwards.

Ensure no carry handles are caught under the VIM.

Ensure beads are spread evenly and appropriately. 

Step 2

Ensure the air valve is open.

 PLEASE NOTE

If the air valve is left closed, pressure can build up in the VIM as it is rolled and / or compressed during storage. This may result in the seam rupturing and the VIM to become unusable.

Step 3

Stack the additional equipment at the level of the chest of region of the VIM. This includes:

· Stretcher Canvas

· Sheet

· Towel

· Hand & Wrist Airsplint          

· Combine pad

· Foot Pump

Step 4

Carefully begin rolling up the VIM from the head end to the foot end.

Ensure the air valve remains open to allow air to escape out of the VIM. 

Ensure handles are not rolled up within the VIM.

PLEASE NOTE

If air becomes trapped in the VIM, pressure will build up within the VIM, causing the seam to fail. 

Step 5 

Carefully slide the VIM into the carry bag.

Step 6

Position the VIM on the baggage storage area in the Ambulance with the Instruction Sheet facing outwards.

The webbing strap should be a firm fit once applied.  If loose, please move the webbing strap up to the next   loop.

Step 8

Attach the webbing strap with the metal clips by:

 · Attach one end to the child restraint clip on the rear of the attendant seat.

 · Attach the other end of the webbing strap to the carry bag’s metal ring.

Step 9

Once the webbing straps are applied, the carry bag storage and strap attachments should look similar to this picture.

The cargo net supplied for the baggage storage can also be applied over the VIM carry bag for additional security.
